The Children’s Hunger Elimination of Wilson, Inc. (CHEW) came to fruition out of the 2011 Presbyterian Women’s Bible Study of the Beatitudes. It was the response to a simple question: “What are we doing for the destitute in Wilson?”
The result was a call to action, and the formation of an all-volunteer nonprofit organization that devotes all monies received, except for that required for insurance, tax returns, and audits, to feed chronically hungry children in Wilson County, NC.
● CHEW is deeply committed to seeing that in Wilson County no child is hindered from learning, growing, and developing their God-given potential because of hunger.
● Love and concern for our chronically hungry children continue to be its driving force.
● We receive no government funding.
From the very beginning, our efforts to provide food over the weekends for these children in our Wilson County Public School System, at Sallie B. Howard School for the Arts and Wilson Preparatory Academy (charter schools), Wilson Early College, and the Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf have been made possible because of an outpouring of love from members of our community and throughout our state

By joining hands and working together, we are committed to feeding our chronically hungry children on a permanent, ongoing basis.
